This past week I popped by CISL AM 650 to resume my ongoing conversation with Steve Dotto about the self-publishing revolution—and to give away a copy of The Healer (contest open until Monday, September 19; click here for details).
Between you and me (and Google), at first it was impossible to speak (or tweet) about The Healer without blushing a little bit, but The Healer has become its own entity—one of which I am proud. It’s exactly what I want it to be, from the typesetting to the cover artwork to the meat of the story itself. I am so proud of the characters: Ivy, Victor, Piper, and the others. Publishing their story and sending them out into the universe was like watching your children head to school for the first time. You want them to make friends. You want them to be happy.
And now my cheeks barely flush at all when I tell you that The Healer is available for purchase at Chapters and Barnes & Noble and on Amazon (where this past weekend it hit #8 on the sci-fi action list: Fahrenheit 451 was #9 and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? was #11; the nine-year-old version of myself that devoured these very books and dreamt about writing one of her own would be psyched!).
