THE LONG VERSION…

Born Sabrina Rani Mehra in the dying days of disco, Sabrina Furminger studied English Literature at Queen’s University and edited The Reader, the monthly literary supplement published by the Queen’s Journal; later, she honed her craft as the Journal’s news editor and spent one glorious summer interning at the Kingston Whig-Standard, where she covered the raucous opening of Wolfe Island’s first public toilet (complete with ribbon cutting, a blessing, and a toilet-shaped cake), and visited a men’s penitentiary during its annual Sports Day.

Since 2002, Sabrina has contributed hundreds of feature articles, in-depth profiles, and columns to a diverse roster of trade and consumer publications and websites (click for list), including most recently The Westender, a popular weekly newspaper serving Metro Vancouver (selected article list here) for which she pens a film and television column entitled Reel People.

Her short fiction and personal essays have appeared in Humanist Perspectives Magazine, OCW Magazine, Ricepaper Magazine, and Luna Station Quarterly. Her story Matryoshka appears in EDGE Publishing’s Danse Macabre anthology (October 2012).

Sabrina published her first novel — an action-packed work in the genre of sci-fi chick lit entitled The Healer — in Fall 2011. For more information about The Healer, click here. To purchase The Healer, visit our Shop page.

Sabrina lives in Vancouver, BC with her husband, her daughter, and her cat.
